How the math works

Loaded hourly cost = salary × 1.25 overhead ÷ 2,080 working hours. Labor lost = people × hours/week × 52 × loaded rate. Errors & rework are estimated as a percentage of that labor. Recovered value assumes automation removes the set percentage of both. Payback = build cost ÷ (annual recovered value − yearly maintenance). Figures are illustrative and rounded.
